About Liam

Liam is 21 years old and has a partial chromosomal deletion. This disability can cause a lapse in focus, poor motor skills and fatigue. Painting provides a means to fully immerse himself in his art, the moment and the experience.

His relationship with art has helped develop new skills and apply them in unique and expressive ways. Liam's art journey is kindly supported by caring CPL Southport staff and he is also currently enjoying the mentorship of Queensland artist and curator John Waldron.

Liam won the 2020 Emerging Artist of the Year award (Queensland Outsider Art Awards, Art from the Margins).

Family and pets mean the world to Liam, using crayons and acrylics to express his vision and memories on the canvas.
Growing up within a coffee roasting family business, Liam knows the scene but prefers hot chocolate! With a marshmallow.
Whilst waiting for dad to finish he used to take a nap on the green coffee bags. Not as comfy as a bed but make-do.

Family plays a big part in Liam's life. The household is certainly pet friendly with the two border collies Prince and Baron, and kitties Honey and Missy.

With a love of mechanical things Liam has a fascination for people movers like trams, buses, trains and elevators. A great morning out would be to tram into Surfers Paradise, catching an elevator to the Sky Tower cafe and grabbing a hot chocolate.
